Martyn's Law is the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, sometimes called Protect Duty. It places responsibilities on organisations to consider terrorist risk and take proportionate steps to protect the public.
The responsible person is whoever has control of the premises or event, which is often the organisation itself. For enhanced tier premises and events (800 or more people) where the responsible person is an organisation, a designated senior individual must also be named.

No. Aegis does not sell products or install systems. Its role is independent advisory focused on decision-making, governance and defensibility.
The Act became law in April 2025. No commencement date has been confirmed yet: the duties are expected to come into force in spring 2027, and the Security Industry Authority (SIA), which will be the regulator, has said it will confirm the exact date in advance. Home Office statutory guidance on the requirements is already available. Preparation takes time, so the work should start now.
Yes. The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 applies across the whole of the UK, including Northern Ireland. Aegis is based in Bangor and supports organisations across Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK.
It depends on how many people may be present at the same time. Premises where 200 to 799 people may be present fall in the standard tier, which centres on public protection procedures. Premises where 800 or more may be present fall in the enhanced tier, which adds public protection measures, documentation and, for organisations, a designated senior individual. Scope conditions and exceptions apply: schools and other relevant education premises, and places of worship, stay in the standard tier however many people attend, and some premises are excluded altogether. Events are treated separately: a public event with entry checks for 800 or more people, held at premises not already in the enhanced tier, is a qualifying event with the same requirements as enhanced tier premises. Events for fewer than 800 people are not qualifying events.
